The Lancaster School District is now enrolling for our CARES After School Program (it's free!). CARES offers students a nutritious snack, homework assistance, and both academic and recreational enrichment. It is available at the following school sites: Desert View, Discovery, El Dorado, Jack Northrop, Joshua, Lincoln, Linda Verde, Mariposa, Monte Vista, Sierra, and Sunnydale. Amargosa Creek Middle School is partnering with the American Red Cross to participate in a community service project called the Future Blood Donor Program to teach middle school students about blood donation, blood components and why local hospital patients need blood. Mark your calendars for Tuesday, September 1, 2016 at the Amargosa Creek MS Gym from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Support our students and school by donating blood and recruiting other blood donors.

Here are some things you need to know to be a candidate for the Lancaster School District Board – Trustee Area 2:
Any person is eligible to be a member of the Board of Trustees, without further qualifications, if he/she is 18 years of age or older, a citizen of California, a registered voter residing in Trustee Area 2, and not legally disqualified from holding civil office.
Complete the Candidate Information Sheet and return it to the District Office no later than 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 13, 2016.
All Candidate Information Sheets submitted by the closing date will be reviewed by the Board in open session. Qualified applicants will be invited to interview at a meeting to which the public is invited. The Board will accept oral or written public input at that time.
The Board shall post notices within 10 days after the appointment is made.
Candidate Interviews will be held on Monday, September 19, 2016, at 5:00 p.m. at the Lancaster School District Office Board Room in a public meeting of the Board of Trustees.
